Tickets are selling fast for the 2023 Hindhead Boxing Day Run

Tickets for the drinking run, which includes a refreshing pint of winter ale two miles into the course, have sold out but there are still places available for the non-drinking run. It costs £14 to enter with 100% of profits donated to Holy Cross Hospital in Haslemere. 

Providing a glimpse into what to expect, run organiser Matt Dellar says: “The 3.5-mile run starts at the Devil’s Punchbowl Hotel. The course will include the picturesque Hindhead Commons, featuring Gibbet Hill and the Devil’s Punchbowl. Participants should brace themselves for an exhilarating experience which will include a hilly terrain, uneven tracks, beautiful country views, a fabulous community atmosphere and an abundance of fun!”

Holy Cross Hospital is a specialist charitable hospital for highly dependent patients who need individualised care due to neurological conditions following strokes, head injuries and other incidents. Chief Executive, Frances Campion-Smith says: “The Boxing Day Run has been instrumental in funding projects and enabling us to acquire equipment that directly benefits patients. Last year’s generous donation of £4,750 went towards a new hoist so we can safely transfer patients to and from our hydrotherapy pool. Matt Dellar has been organising the Boxing Day run since 1997 and I would like to give my heartfelt thanks to Matt and the hundreds of runners who take part each year and help to raise money for Holy Cross.”

The 2023 run is sponsored by the Hogs Back Brewery, Wilson Electrical Distributors Ltd, Transform Landscapes and the Devil’s Punchbowl Hotel. 

Tickets for the run can be booked online at www.boxingdayrun.org. The run starts at 11am on Tuesday 26 December. The results chip timing will be provided by Race Timing Solutions.
