Learning & Development
We value the contribution of each member of our staff and are committed to developing their full potential. To do this, we have a comprehensive learning and development programme which aims to meet the needs of individuals and staff groups as well as the Hospital as a whole.
We actively support and encourage staff to further their knowledge, skills and professional development.
Induction
Learning and development begins with an induction, new starters complete a blended learning programme. With the help of a mentor, new members of staff will be helped to familiarise themselves with their working environment, meet other staff and receive the mandatory training and information they need to be successful in their new role and to be an effective member of their team.
Ongoing study
Staff have many opportunities to take part in training sessions within the Hospital. We have developed the HCA Development Programme, especially for Health Care Assistants, which covers all aspects of our work including the more specialist areas such as tracheostomy care and enteral feeding.
We are always happy to consider supporting staff to study for external qualifications, attend relevant conferences, workshops and study days.
We have a clinical competency framework in place for all grades of clinical staff to give us and them confidence that they have the knowledge and skills to undertake clinical procedures at an appropriate level.
